So, what’s different about SoSF?
- As long-time San Francisco residents, we have explored every nook and cranny of this amazing city. We bring you to places that you might not have otherwise found on your own.
- Because of our years of experience working in the active travel industry, we offer a personalized level of service that you will not find elsewhere.
Are the tours hilly?
Great question! We have created routes which navigate around rather than over San Francisco’s infamous hills. As a result, the terrain is very gentle. See our Tours page for more details.
What kinds of bikes do you provide?
We use the beautiful 2011 and in sizes S-XL.
Do you rent bikes?
We currently do not rent our bikes. You’ll get the best San Francisco biking experience by joining one of our tours.
What is your cancellation policy?
Your payment is fully refundable if you cancel at least 72 hours (3 days) in advance. Your payment is 50% refundable if you cancel 48 hours (2 days) in advance.
But wait, what if it’s raining? Can I get a refund?
Yes, if it’s raining an hour before your tour is scheduled, and you don’t want to ride in the rain, we’ll happily give you a full refund.
What should I wear?
Our tours are casual, so please wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Be sure to check the weather and bring layers (i.e. jacket, fleece, sweater). We provide helmets, or you can choose to bring your own.
Should I bring water or do you provide it?
We’ll provide water if you need it, but in order to remain low impact, we’d love for you to bring your own. Just make sure your bottle fits in your backpack or a standard bicycle water bottle cage.
How fit should I be?
For our 2.5 hour “Loop” tour, you should be able to ride about 10 miles and ascend some gentle hills. For our 5 hour “Big Loop” tour, you should be able to ride about 20 miles. Our pace is leisurely, and you certainly don’t need to be Lance Armstrong to enjoy our tours, but you should be comfortable doing moderate activity for a few hours. If you have any questions, just call or email us.
Do I tip the guide?
Yes! Our guides love what they do, but rent in this city is expensive : ) Tipping is customary in the U.S. service industry and is an important component of guides’ compensation. The tip amount is at your discretion, but as a rough guide, consider giving 10-15%.
Can kids come on a tour?
Our tours are geared for people age 13 and up. If you have younger children and would like to go on a tour, please contact us about a private tour.
(Note: We currently do not have children’s bikes).
